Fall Trend- The LBD

black

Living in the Midwest, I have always been more of a jeans girl. It's just easier- especially when half the year it's below 50 degrees and there is snow on the ground. That being said, this past summer I really tried to focus on buying a few dresses- primarily due to their ease. Now that Fall is just around the corner, I am on the hunt for a LBD (can you believe I do not own one currently? Nuts.) and I plan to purchase one with a little detail to make it unique. Whether it be a little leather detailing or a peter pan collar, I hope to find something that is timeless but still has a little something special to it. Any LBD's you're loving lately? Please share!

Friday's Fancies: Spring Fever

This week's Friday's Fancies is all about Spring. It has been unseasonably warm here in Chicago and I absolutely love it. I am crossing my fingers that the next few months stay mild. February is one of my favorite months of the year because retailers come out with their spring lines. I have my virtual shopping cart full of a million things- none of which can be worn until April, but it's still nice to look. For my outfit this week I picked out a pair of colored denim (yes, I'm still not over colored denim) in a pretty bright hue. I would layer the chambray shirt over the floral one to add a little bit of pattern that isn't too overwhelming. Since the pants and top are so bright & busy, I'd keep my accessories neutral with a tan sandal and patent leather carry-all. Oh, and I'd throw on a pair of UO's adorable colored sunnies. For just $10 I plan to buy a whole array of colors.

Dreaming of Denim

I shop a lot. But the other day I realized that I shop for three things: shoes, tops, and necklaces. While that isn't necessarily a problem- the bottoms in my wardrobe have been severely neglected. I have a few basic skirts and a couple pairs of dress pants but they rarely get worn. In my casual work environment I wear jeans almost every day. I've decided to focus my spending on enhancing my bottoms collection and what better way is there then to buy denim? The four denim trends I'm loving lately are colored denim, boyfriend jeans, the high-waisted flare, and waxed skinny jeans. I think having a pair of each allows for endless fashion possibilities. Which denim styles do you think are essential?

What I'd Wear {To Work}

Miranda Kerr
                      blouse // pants // heels // scarf //

The dress code at my work is very informal (jeans and gym shoes are acceptable attire). Most of the time that suits me just fine since I'm usually hopping out of bed at the last minute. The one problem with such a laid back atmosphere is that I don't have a ton of "work staples" in my closet since I would get very little use out of them. I know they always say to dress for the job you want to have, but I've found when I come to work in a blazer & heels I constantly get the question of "Why are you so dressed up?" In the new year I'm going to let that go out the window and attempt to dress up my work ensembles with a few dressy pieces and some casual ones, too. This outfit Miranda's wearing is the perfect combination of classy and casual. Do you have a dress code at work?
